Chapter Officer Duties and Responsibilities

Each elected officer of the chapter has a specific responsibility and duty to the chapter.
The following outlines those responsibilities and duties. Note that the Salt Valley chapter
elects each of the following officers. The Prairie Winds and Seven Feathers Chapters combine
unit elections and camp promotions functions under one officer and also combine the unit
service and unit relations functions under one officer.
Chapter Chief
- Responsible for the overall operation of the Chapter
- Presides at all Chapter meetings
- Attends Chapter Key-3 meetings
- Coordinates with Chapter Vice-Chiefs to ensure that program is carried out
- Represents the Order of the Arrow as a member of the District Camping Committee and attends District
Committee meetings
Chapter Vice-Chief
- Performs duties of Chapter Chief (above) if Chapter Chief is unable to carry out
- Program Responsibility – Activities
- Coordinates Chapter events
- Coordinates OA support for District Activities (Camporees, etc)
Chapter Vice-Chief - Unit Elections
- Is a member of the Lodge Unit Elections Committee
- Program Responsibility – Unit Elections
- Makes sure that all eligible units in the District have an election
- Coordinates the training of Unit Election teams
- Works with Unit Relations Vice Chief to schedule unit elections
- Carries out elections (through election teams) and returns election results to the Lodge
Chapter Vice-Chief - Camp Promotions
- Is a member of the Lodge Camp Promotions Committee
- Program Responsibility – Camp Promotions
- Makes sure that camp is promoted to units in the District (both Scout and Cub)
- Coordinates the training of Camp Promotion teams
- Works with Unit Relations Vice Chief to schedule camp promotion visits
- Carries out camp promotions visits (through camp promotion teams)
Chapter Vice-Chief - Unit Service
- Is a member of the Lodge Unit Service Committee
- Program Responsibility – Unit Service
- Coordinates with units requesting OA assistance. Includes crossover ceremonies and similar activities.
- Coordinates groups of Arrowman to provide unit service through the OA Scoutreach Mentoring program.
Chapter Vice-Chief - Unit Relations
- Is a member of the Lodge Unit Relations Committee
- Program Responsibility – Unit Relations
- Responsible for maintaining a list of Unit Representatives
- Contacts unit leaders to encourage them to appoint Unit Representatives
- Provides regular communications to/from Unit Representatives about Lodge and Chapter events, elections
and camp promotions, and encourages active participation in OA activities on both a Chapter and Lodge
basis.
- Work with Unit Elections and Camp Promotions Vice-Chiefs to coordinate elections and camp promotions
through the Unit Representatives
