Other Lodge Activities

In addition to the four core events, the Golden Sun Lodge carries out a large number of service events, meetings, training courses, and other events and activities. Some of these are described below.

Lodge Leadership Development Conference (LLDC)
LLDC is one of the Lodge's largest training efforts all year. This event is held in late September or early October of each year, no later than October 15 as specified by the Lodge Rules. This event is the first event scheduled after the Lodge and Chapter Officer Elections which take place at the Fall Pow Wow in August. All Elected Officers (both Lodge and Chapter), and appointed Committee Chairmen, are required to attend this course so they can learn about their new positions and how to carry them out. Any other Arrowman interested in gaining leadership knowledge or learning more about the operation of the Lodge is encouraged to attend as well. At the conclusion of this one-day course, the terms of the outgoing Lodge Leadership will conclude and the new Lodge Leadership will begin their terms. This is signified by the passing of the bonnets.

Vigil Honor Weekend
Each fall, all of the Vigil Honor members of the lodge convene at Camp Cornhusker for dinner the evening before the new Vigil Honor Candidates keep their Vigil. These candidates are chosen at the Vigil Honor Committee meeting which is held following the April LEC meeting each year. All Vigil Honor Members are invited to attend.

Lodge Executive Committee (LEC) Meetings
Each month, the Lodge Executive Committee meets to discuss current Lodge business. Voting members at these meetings, as specified by the current version of the Lodge Rules, are the Lodge Chief, Lodge Vice Chief, Lodge Secretary, Lodge Treasurer, Lodge Ceremonies Committee Chairman, Lodge Publications Committee Chairman, Lodge Service Committee Chairman, and all three Chapter Chiefs, for a total of ten. Even though only those ten individuals can vote on issues in these meetings, they are open to the entire LEC as well as the Lodge Membership.

Key-3 Meetings
The Lodge Key-3 consists of the Lodge Chief, the Lodge Adviser, and the Lodge Staff Adviser. These three individuals meet prior to LEC Meetings and Lodge Events to go over a variety of topics affecting the Lodge. Each Chapter also has a Key-3. This group includes the Chapter Chief, Chapter Adviser, and Chapter Staff Adviser. The Chapter Key-3 also meet prior to Chapter meetings to prepare for them. In many cases, these individuals are in contact on a weekly, or even daily asis via phone and email.

Chapter Meetings
Each Chapter meets once per month, usually at the same time as their District Roundtable Meeting, to carry out Lodge and Chapter programs and to plan for upcoming events. They carry out Chapter Events, Unit Elections, Ceremonies, Camp Promotions, and a variety of other services to the Units they serve.
