Core Lodge Events
The Golden Sun Lodge has four main events that we put on for our members each year, as
specified by the Lodge Rules. They are the Fall Pow Wow, Fall Fellowship, Regalia Extravaganza,
and the Spring Event.
- Fall Pow Wow
- The Annual Fall Pow Wow is a weekend event held each August at Camp Cornhusker. This weekend is the
first of two opportunities for newly elected Ordeal Candidates to complete their Ordeal. In addition
to that, qualifying Ordeal members can seal their membership in the Order by completing their
Brotherhood. On Saturday, all Arrowmen and Candidates engage in service projects, many of which are
aimed at preparing the camp for the winter season. This is the largest event that the Golden Sun Lodge
puts on each year. Annual Lodge Dues are collected with registrations for this event. Make sure to
pay your dues when you sign up. Even if you do not plan on going to this event, make sure to send
in your dues form from so that you can remain active.
- Fall Fellowship
- The Fall Fellowship is a weekend event that takes place in November of each year. Unlike many of our
other events, Fall Fellowship is held at a variety of different locations. In the past, this event
has been held at Peru State College, Camp Kitaki, and a variety of other places. For those Arrowmen
who think that the only thing the Order of the Arrow ever does is service projects at Camp, come
check out this event! This weekend is laid back and casual, consisting of fun activities that you
don’t need work gloves for. Traditionally, part of Saturday morning is spent in OA Program Awareness
Sessions (also known as Training, but more fun and more interactive). In addition, Saturday night is
the Annual Lodge Banquet. This is filled with great food, award presentations, and the Annual Lodge
Show, which is always one of the most entertaining Scouting activities that you can experience all
year! This is by far one of the most fun events of the year, so don’t miss it.
- Winter Event
- The Winter Event is a relatively new event for our Lodge. Replacing the old Farewell to
Winter event, this one-day event focuses on the Native American aspects of the Order of the Arrow and
the Golden Sun Lodge, and is held each February. Traditionally, program stations include Medicine
Pouch Making, Beading, Costume/Regalia Design, Native American Dancing, Drumming, Chanting, and so
much more! This event evolves each year into a completely different event, so make sure to check it
out. It’s actually designed and geared towards the interests of new Ordeal members, enabling them to
learn about how they can get more involved in the Lodge and Chapters. However, there are lots of
things for the experienced Arrowmen as well. Come and share your knowledge with those who want to
learn. It’s a great experience!
- Spring Event
- The Spring Event is a weekend event held each May at Camp Cornhusker. This weekend is the second
and final opportunity for Ordeal Candidates who were elected the previous year to complete their Ordeal.
In addition to that, all Ordeal members, including those who completed their Ordeal at the previous
Fall Pow Wow, can seal their membership in the Order by completing their Brotherhood. On Saturday, all
Arrowmen and Candidates engage in service projects, many of which are aimed at preparing the camp for
upcoming summer camping season. This is the second largest event that the Golden Sun Lodge puts on
each year.
